This was a four-figure base fare with taxes and fare rules, on the marketing airline's own ticket stock, fore sale on the marketing airline's website for, it sounds like, well over a day.
I'm surprised they didn't downgrade into Business instead of cancelling. This was up for over a day, and though it was very very low for First, as pointed out it was a legit ticket. Seems even if they didn't want to eat the F cost, downgrading to business would still result in a pretty good deal for those who still wanted it, and would look a lot better for them. Granted, just cause it seems logical to me doesn't mean it's logical to them...
