You can show your current rental in the app if you really need to. The police wouldn't ask if you are renting the car or not unless they have reasons to question you. Got pulled over several times while in a rental vehicle (as a driver and a passenger) and the police never demanded for a rental agreement.

But if you are really that worried, you can go to the counter and ask for a rental agreement before leaving the lot.
