But if it was a genuine IT glitch, then it can't hurt to contact Hyatt. They may or may not make a gesture, even though the certificate itself definitely cannot be extended.
That definitely could be the case where OP had it tied up and therefore unable to use.
I’ve definitely seen weird situations like where a Cat 1-7 is used instead of a Cat 1-4 sadly and leads to a lot of issues.
