We stayed in Sesimbra and loved it. Fishing village, there are tourists but it's still lowkey. (it might actually have been someone here who sent me looking at that area when we were searching around - it was a great pick for us!) One of my friends who was with me on that trip was in Cascais last week and she said it was pretty "fancy" for her and she liked Sesimbra better (we ate fresh grilled fish every day - she wanted that again - she said the food was good in Cascais, just different). But she also noted there are smaller places nearby that might be a better fit for them (they're one of the couples looking long-term at Portgul - they're in Scotland now; the other couple looking lives in Mozambique).
