there are many grades of fakes, but the good stuff can be really, really good. handbags and wallets are often virtually identical to the real thing. watches are a bit more hit or miss; some just don't seem to last very long. dvds/cds are good around 90% of the time, though if you buy something that hasn't come out yet, expect terrible quality. as for clothes, it's a little harder to find decent stuff; i find that boutique-type stores are much better than markets.

as an aside, i just picked up 2 guys i work with at pdx this morning and 1 got nailed by customs. he didn't have to pay any fines, but he did have all of his goods confiscated, including 73 hermes ties.
