Just completed 3 nights here. They let me book a combo of points (80K) and FNC's, which I appreciated, they had a 3 night minimum when I booked several months ago.
Location is great, very quiet (ask for a room facing the parking lot because the front street is a truck route), short walk to town.
It's an older hotel, but we don't care about "updated" as long as it's clean (which it was). The suite was not as cramped as some have mentioned, and we got a standard one, not one of the larger ones. Nice to have the separate living and bedrooms, besides the microwave we didn't use the kitchen.
Free parking, free breakfast, and the breakfast changed daily, we're ok with these types of breakfasts, but they had one truly high spot....every morning they would put out a different warm croissant/pastry that was cooked to perfection - crisp on the outside, warm and tender inside, one day was a chocolate croissant, another almond, another apple pastries, all light and fluffy and warm, but that was when they first come out (right after 7), not sure how they are as the breakfast hours progress. Usual suspects of cereals, oatmeal, breads/bagels, fruit (cut and whole), and the daily changing egg/meat/potato choice. And it was so nice to not have to mess with the current Hilton "food and beverage credit" nonsense.
There are a few nice restaurants very close by - we loved Glorietta, our favorite of the trip, also ate at the White Buffalo Club, good but I chose poorly (I like lamb but do NOT order the lamb lollipops, very disappointing), and the Blue Lion where we did not go. These are the closest choices, many, many more just a fewer blocks further in town. For lunch we ate at the Teton pizza in the old movie theater (wood fired, pretty good) and another lunch at the Palate restaurant inside the National Wildlife Museum (a must see). We also took a walking tour of downtown with the Historical Society, that was interesting, lots of history of the area. You got to go inside several places - the Wort Hotel lobby and the Silver Dollar Bar, another current theater which shows plays (Paint Your Wagon currently) and those are the actors who also do the nightly "shootout" on the Square. Plus of course tons of info on the architecture of downtown.
We also spent a night front and center to the Tetons at the Signal Mountain Lodge, which I highly recommend, not as upscale as Jenny Lake or Jackson Lake Lodges but a fabulous location, we had one of their best rooms, the upper lakefront retreats, well worth the money.
All of our rooms would have been $500 or so per night if it wasn't for the ability to use our Hilton points/FNC's. Luckily Signal Mountain is the only one we had to pay for, but it was worth it for the view.
I'm really happy we chose the HWS over the Hampton, or Springhills Suites, or the Cloudveil (really that was beyond what we'd want to use Marriott points for).
