And funny you bring EK into play. Their offerings have suffered massively from downsizing. There were times when ANY C ticket would get you a limo service. And upgrading with miles was possible from even the cheapest Y fare. And the Y product actually was decent.
EK is still quite ok compared to the European or American main carriers, but it stands no chance against SQ. In any booking class. SQ is miles ahead.
Not every flight can be great, but the consistency of SQ is still very much unmatched. ESPECIALLY with EK where your flights can be a big HIT or MISS, depending on the product and crew.
This must be a different LH group, from what i have flown lately.

Well on all ( longhaul ) i got free drinks @ all and free snaks on mass ! summer 2021 the LX purser even gave a full box of swiss chokolate . Every flight was superb from food and staff . But the groundservice was horrible with LH, changing the inbound due to canceled segment. But @ least them got it solved and rebooked us in time, even thougt i had to use my advocat... SQ lately not reacting on anything, whatever my input, the best i got is an robot replying, them have too much work.....Thank you, SQ , with my last award from Istanbul, which them canceled, i lost over 200 Euro and had to rebook me on an alternative flight with EY/AY , good i have some ALASKA and AA miles....
2 days ago i got a call from SQ in FRA, >> wifes account is upgraded to gold now ! WOW after 3 month them got it done. And them revalidated my Istanbul tix to next year Jan. ( made the next mistake, the first segment is NOT valid xxJAN23, the second NOT valid after XXFEB22 !!! ). Them to stupid to reissue a new etix....
Well and the next surprise came out 2 days ago ! SQ awards go up milage by average 10%, from my looking it's more 13-15%. But see it from the good side, you will have more availability ( hopefully ) .
