Write to the person's boss, or the boss's boss, explaining how great the Rooms Manager was at making your stay exceptional, caring for you, etc. If you think the Rooms Manager may have gone too far leave out the details. Don't use email - send it by post - to have extra impact. I suspect it's not often someone writes in with a note of thanks about a Rooms Manager, and this gesture could help their career, even in a small way.

Once when filling out a standard post-stay survey for a Park Hyatt I mentioned a concierge by name and highlighted his great service. A few weeks later I got a hand-written card from him thanking me for the review and noting that is very impactful in employee evaluations.
