United's website says that "future flight credits issued on or before December 31, 2022 [emphasis added], have had their “travel by” date extended to December 31, 2023." But I see people saying that FFCs now expire one year after original ticket issuance or on December 31, 2023, whichever is later, without saying anything about the FFC issuance date. So, assuming no further blanket extensions, if I buy a ticket in June 2022 for a flight in February 2023 and I cancel in January 2023 will the resulting FFC expire in June 2023 because it wasn't issued before December 31, 2022? It sounds to me like it would.

Barring a statement during the purchase process to the contrary, I would assume so, yes. (And if you do see any such statement, I'd take a screenshot of it for posterity).
