Good reviews... I'm staying at the Sheraton at the moment (pretty much every other week). At this point, I generally stay here because of familiarity, distance to my office, etc.
I will say that vast majority of the rooms really do need a renovation. They've done a good job keeping everything clean and maintained; while slowly renovating some of the bathrooms -- but make no mistake, the hotel needs a serious renovation once they are done with the common areas.
The lounge is great from service, food options for evening appetizers and breakfast, and ability to check in here for Elite instead of the mess downstairs is fantastic.
I've carried either Titanium/Ambassador over the last 5 years; and while the service is good/friendly; I rarely ever see any upgrades. They always do put me on a high floor facing City Hall and in a newer room but that's about it. I also never use the Mobile App for check-in after two instances of the app putting me deep into the dungeons of the building (5th or 6th floor through winding hallways); and it also doesn't care about cleared SNA as well. I've always been treated better at other Sheratons/Marriotts in the US/UK/etc. tbh on recognition, amenities, freebies, and upgrades. Not this place though.
Overall, good hotel -- but don't expect anything crazy on upgrades like in the US or elsewhere.
