That's the general theme at Mayakoba... having eaten at Andaz, Rosewood, Fairmont and Banyan Tree. Lots of nice settings on the beach or by the lagoons, but the food really isn't particularly great.
We did enjoy the food at Andaz, particularly Cocina Milagro and Tinta del Pulpo. I'm not sure the fancier meals are worth the splurge, unless you're okay accepting that most of what you're paying for is the setting and formal service.
