We're scheduled to go EWR-POP tomorrow. My wife (silver) and I (gold) have both been upgraded. From what I can tell, we will have no problem whatsoever upgrading one of our children as my companion. So, I tried to use miles to upgrade the other child. The flight shows this availability:
C9 D9 Z9 Y9 H9 K9 N9 B9 V9 U9 Q9 I9 S9 W9
CO doesn't want to let us pay miles to upgrade the second child, as they claim that even though a Series 1 upgrade award is the same number of miles as a Series 0 that the rules prohibit their use on this flight. We would have to buy up to an upgradable fare class to do this. With (as far as I can tell) two of us being the
only passengers in F so far I can not understand why they won't take our miles.
