How to “thank” for significant upgrade

We communicated with a Rooms Manager in advance of a trip and have received a ridiculous upgrade. What is the best way to thank the person? I will write a very sincere thank you note, but is a gratuity appropriate? Or is a Rooms Manager high enough up the food chain that makes a gratuity inappropriate? Four Seasons.
