I’ve been meaning to write a review as I was at this hotel last weekend (before moving into a condo). Used up 2 expiring FNAs and 2 SNAs which cleared at the 5 day mark. Room rates were initially 40K pts per night so used the top up option. About 2 days before check in, I noticed the price had dropped to 37K and 35K points for the 2 nights respectively so I rebooked. I had to cancel the original reservation as the SNAs had cleared but reapplied them and they cleared again. Got a very nice suite on 5th floor (a bit of a nuisance as you have to change elevators on the 25th floor to go to the 43rd floor where the lounge is) with a lovely view of Nathan Phillips Square.
I then had to extend my stay an additional 2 nights. Since I booked the morning of my 3rd night, it was too late to apply any SNAs. Hotel said I couldn’t keep the same room, but they moved me to another suite on 39th floor (different view, but much better for lounge access).
As Elevator guy says, the renovated lounge is spectacular with high quality food offerings. Great selection of vegetarian options in the evening too and long hours (5:30-8:30 pm). Breakfast was excellent and for anyone thinking of upgrading to restaurant breakfast, don’t bother. First day, I requested restaurant breakfast in lieu of my 1000 pt welcome amenity. It took a lot of back and forth before they agreed to it. Turns out there is no buffet breakfast, just a menu. Chat agent gave me the option of eating in restaurant or in my room. I chose room since there was no buffet, and ordered an omelette with a side of fruit. I was expecting room service. Instead I got an omelette in a cardboard box and nothing else except a plastic container of fruit. Of course, they ended up charging me ($22 for omelette + $3.50 for fruit) which I had to get removed from my bill. The lounge offers an excellent buffet breakfast so I didn’t make the same mistake for days 2-4!
But my favourite part about this hotel is they are truly pet friendly! There is no clean-up fee and they don’t assign you to a “dog room”. Looking forward to going back. I’ve already made a reservation for the Xmas tree lighting ceremony at the end of Nov.
