I have done this many times traveling myself with 3 young kids on different pnrs as I often pay for my flight for tax purposes while using miles for the kids. Other than online check-in, I’ve never had a problem. The system is looking for the UM $150 fee per direction when an under 15 is on own pnr. In IROPS I just get mistakes fixed by calling in or at the gate.
