I recently finished a stay at this hotel. Overall experience was ok. I only received an upgrade to the executive king. My travel companion received an upgrade to an executive suite.

My room was very small and felt very dated. I spent some time in the suite and felt the same, place needs a refresh. Carpet had some stains and the furniture had some wear. I also thought there was WAY too much furniture in my room considering how small it was. There really is only enough room for a desk. They crammed two chairs, a small side table w/ its own seating bench and an ottoman into the room. Looks like they ran out of space so they put the TV on top of coffee station/minibar shelf. The room would feel much more spacious if they removed this stuff. I also did not like any of the automated room functions. The touch control command center thing next to the bed was not intuitive. I also could not figure out how to turn off the backlighting on it so it glowed every night. The thermostat was also confusing. It lets you set a temperature down to 17, but it seems to always display a different temperature. First night it was buggy, I woke up with the room extremely hot. It worked fine for the rest of my stay though.

The downstairs breakfast spot was ok. I ended up usually ordering eggs benedict from the egg station. Takes them 10 mins to make and you can pick it up later. Very standard menu, all ok food, nothing stood out as great. Their 'house cured' salmon was not very good though. I would recommend avoiding that.

The executive lounge was spacious. Food during the evening changed every day, it was fine. Alcohol options remained the same throughout my stay. Staff was very friendly and quick to refill your glass even when the place got packed.

If I were to come to Dubai again, I would probably just pay extra and stay at the waldorf DIFC.
