Reporting back since my experience was very different than u/
banana0692 above. Booked Strip View King room and checked in as Hilton Gold at noon (maybe even 15 minutes beforehand). No wait in the HHonors queue but there were a few people in the other line still waiting. From what I could tell instead of using a dedicated front desk agent for HHonors, all the agents were rotating between 1 guest from the dedicated line and one from the regular line this kept the line short.
I kindly requested for an upgrade since I thought I'd be working during my stay a bunch and wanted some dedicated space while holding a 20 in my hand. Agent clicked around a bit said she can check what is available and mentioned normally the upgrade is to a strip view room. Then comes back and tells me she can upgrade me to the 1 King bedroom suite (massive room and loved it). It was only on 32nd floor so not a true high floor room but 32 is high enough for me. She informed me it's usually $150/night to upgrade but she will take care of that for me.
Keycards seem to be a problem. My first key did not work but the kind front desk lady walked me to the elevator to make sure the second one she issued worked.
Received my 2 water bottles at check-in and there were 2 bottles already waiting for me in the room.
I charged a couple of different restaurants to my room to see what would get covered with the $50 food and beverage credit. Did not go to Suns Out but I did go to the Kitchen and enjoyed it for breakfast since it's a proper dining experience. Credit only covered Kitchen and was not applied to any of the other restaurants for me.
