I'd guess that there is no appetite for Nexus remote interviews, because then no one would go for Global Entry as Nexus is cheaper. Requiring in-person at least limits them to (mostly) people in Canada, frequent travelers to Canada, or people near the border.
Ohhh this is a smart take! I can see it being true (or true-adjacent).
