I was on AC556 YVR-LAX yesterday on a flight I'd booked with Aeroplan miles. I have no AC status but do have *A Gold through ANA, and I thought I'd added my ANA number successfully to the booking because it was showing up in the app under my name. I thought something seemed a little off when the check-in agent was only able to check one bag for me for free (and none for my wife who was also on the booking but with no status whatsoever), but I thought nothing of it and figured that was some *A quirk that I wasn't familiar with (I typically fly OW). Once I was past that stage and heading to US immigration I realised my boarding pass had 'Aeroplan' listed on it and I was boarding in zone 5. Somehow, my wife—no status at all, remember—had zone 4. At the AC lounge I asked the agent to update the FF number to my ANA one and she said the system wouldn't let her do it. Was this likely to do with it being a points booking or some other problem?
