Mövenpick Hotel The Hague
- Name of the hotel: Movenpick Hotel The Hague
- What is your ALL status? Platinum
- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? No
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked SLEEP, received same (the hotel was fully booked and I didn't want to be upgraded anyway as I wanted to try out the "special" bed)
- How are the rooms? The SLEEP room was lovely, big with a very large bathroom. The YouBed (you can adjust the firmness of the mattress) is a complete gimmick, not worth the extra money. The hotels still looks brand new.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- the location, very close to the city centre and in a quiet, leafy street
Bad:
- Cost-cutting using covid as an excuse (in a country where all the covid restrictions have now been lifted). A lot of services scrapped, such as Chocolate hour and turndown service. However, the price remains high.
- Poorly trained receptionists. At check-in the receptionist only seemed interested in taking my credit card so she could do the preauthorization. She didn't explain anything about the hotel, when or where the breakfast is served, the opening times of the bar and restaurant, nothing. She didn't even give me the welcome drink voucher, I had to ask for it. When I asked about the turndown service, she didn't even know what it was (!). At check-out another receptionist wasn't interested in whether I was satisfied with my stay.
- I booked the so called Sleep room, which comes with a package that includes eyemask, earplugs, herbal teas, a bar of chocolate and stickers to put over the lights in the room, such as that little red light on the TV. Only the mask and earplugs were provided. When I complained, the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about (even though it is clearly mentioned in the brochure in the room)
- No welcome amenity.
- Really poor breakfast, I've had better at Ibis! The selection is so poor I couldn't believe it.
-The worst part: they have a ventilation system that blows cold air directly onto the bed where your head is and it cannot be switched off! Not even if you take out the keycard from its slot. I don't know who thought this would be a good idea, but they should be forced to sleep in this room and see how they like it.
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Voucher for 2, valid for "house wine", beer and soft drinks. Lame. No welcome amenity.
- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Never again. This actually put me off all Movenpick hotels. I will try to avoid them in the future.
