First is not that profitable, so BA doesn't have much incentive to sell it on a one-off basis on a route that isn't normally a First route.

Not allocating seats in the First cabin may also help to preserve operational flexibility in case a different configuration of aircraft (or a different aircraft type altogether) has to be substituted at any time, especially as the First cabin is only used if it becomes necessary to do so.
