Due to MH canceling afternoon flights NRT-KUL, now would need overnights in NRT and KUL

Either way, they land at about mighnight. Hotel for 6-8 hours, then an early flight to Bali. (Paid ticket)

What would youse suggest?

Considerations:

Singapore- better hotels, nicer airport (?)
Singapore- bit more cost for flights to DPS. Also seems to have 'better' carriers on that route. (CGK seems like ULLC carriers.)
Jakarta- Flight to Bali is then domestic, right?
Can they even do this, overnight in SIngapore with split tickets? I assume they arent 'transit' and need to enter SIngapore? US passports. Vaccd and boosted.

Which would be better?

Return routing from Bali seems to be fine (for now)....
