An equipment swap from the scheduled high-J 763 to the 30-seat, no-PP version doomed my upgrade, but at least I got an exit row. And you know what, the "chicken" lunch entree was pretty good even if it doesn't look so appetizing in the photo below. The chicken came in a cream sauce with bits of mushroom, accompanied by a cheesy potato gratin and some green beans and carrots to provide a token vegetable component. Also, the vanilla ice cream was better than a KitKat, if you know what I'm saying.
But then we had the pre-arrival snack. I was hoping to see the warmed-up turkey-gouda sandwich return, but instead we were served a pretzel roll with a single slab of cheese and that orange sauce that added color but not flavor to this attempt at a sandwich.
This flight had non-trivial beverage catering issues; they had no IPAs left and one Stella in the aft galley when I asked for a beer halfway through the flight, and by the time the snack service came around they were out of red wine too.
