I’m only Silver Elite, but that is supposed to give me some benefits.
Ultimate Reservation Guarantee: "If for some reason we’re unable to honor your reservation, we’ll pay for your accommodations that night at a nearby hotel and compensate you for the inconvenience."
yeah, no comp in these situations, but they should have worked out that your certificates are transferred. Not acceptable that they asked you to pay. I would reach out to the lurkers or dispute the charges with your CC company. Also agree that with a 1-day notice the hotel should provide some sort of points comp for your inconvenience.
