Check prices of QF domestic flights in business class. If you can find cheap tickets, their lounges in major airports are good. Watch seating and configuration details though; you might have a choice of domestic FC seats versus Eurobusiness style depending on the particular flight you pick on certain routes.
Why do you find SYD a pain? Especially if OP is doing a split ticket, SYD is absolutely the best airport for flying in on one airline and then transiting to another for intra-Australia travel because of the way they have customs and recheck setup. Makes its simple to swap carriers without needing to bother with interlined bags or short-checking bags or anything like that.

Also what are you talking about with eurostyle business? I’ve never experienced a QF or VA plane that doesn’t have US style FC. The bigger point for the OP is to look for international J seats.

QF will often put international J on SYD - PER because it’s similar in length to JFK - LAX
