A caveat about the 3-month stays...I think I recall someone posting that Google warned them, or maybe shut them down, for spending too much time out of the US.

Google Fi is a great service...I arrived at LHR 4 days ago and my Android phone had switched even before I got off the plane. In previous years I've used it successfully in other Western European nations also.
