You'll need the physical SIM for initial activation. So basically, register for the account, they ship you a physical SIM card, you pop it into your phone (it's real easy, just need a paperclip) and then download the Fi app to activate the SIM card. Billing cycle commences from activation date + 3 days or so.
It doesn't follow the normal "iPhone cellular carrier activation" flow. You'll need to use the Fi app.
i didn’t have time to wait for a physical sim. 😬 FINALLY figured out how to load the eSIM and activate but good grief no clue how I got there. You are correct re 3+ days for billing. Got the email re that. Everything in the end turned out fine but wow what a royal pain. Took about two hours with two people drilling down. At least it’s done. Kid can go to Europe with easy peasy data.
Right? Is there anything he needs to do when he lands in various European countries? I assume it just works but given the headache of today I could be wrong.
