Have had this before: last November I was looking for airfares between London and LA (funnily enough!) and found a fantastic deal with lastminute.com for about £1750 per person for BA CW flights and hotel for the week (if you booked the flights alone, they were WELL over £2k per person). Since we were visiting relatives (Grandma's 80th birthday) we didn't need the accomodation. But we booked the deal anyway - took the flights, just never turned up at the hotel...
