After some pushing and some hold on the line I was offered (as a special exception) a reroute from WAW instead but with no option to get to WAW, except on my own and I would probably have to overnight. My requests for a connection with LO or with LH via FRA or MUC were rebuffed as "impossible" and "only Aegean flights and from the original country are possible".
After searching the forum, I found that some people had success
after some pushing and I may try to do it but my question is: do I have any recourse or is it in the airline discretion? Is there any official policy? I also booked it on Black Friday with 6x miles promo and I guess I will have to fight for this, too.
I was always very satisfied with Aegean but this experience sucks a lot. Sure, it could have been worse if they canceled it 14 days before departure but even three months before, it is certainly not easy to untangle this mess they created. Anytime, I want to make some changes, I will be charged an arm and leg and they can make arbitrary changes and get away with it?
As you’ve quoted my thread, you’ve obviously read my experience. The only advice I can give you is to keep re-iterating that what they are offering is not acceptable and that you will only accept the option you are presenting. It is possible if the request gets through to the right person. I’m not sure if the fact that I am A3 gold & that we were flying in paid business class made any difference but stick to your guns and try to get them to put the request to the “schedule change” department. Good luck!
