I never wrote that longhaul you don't get free food/drinks anymore on LH group, so don't make up stuff please. And those offerings you still get were downgraded quite heavily. Compared to SQ, where you still get (almost) the same stuff as years ago. And no noodles at all on LH group - unless you're willing to pay (No more free snacks there, and yes, that includes long haul)
And funny you bring EK into play. Their offerings have suffered massively from downsizing. There were times when ANY C ticket would get you a limo service. And upgrading with miles was possible from even the cheapest Y fare. And the Y product actually was decent.
EK is still quite ok compared to the European or American main carriers, but it stands no chance against SQ. In any booking class. SQ is miles ahead.
Not every flight can be great, but the consistency of SQ is still very much unmatched. ESPECIALLY with EK where your flights can be a big HIT or MISS, depending on the product and crew.
