I'm beyond frustrated with Iberia and AA right now. A few months back I purchased IB flights to Europe via American (so I could use a voucher). The routing was only offered on IB metal. I just noticed that seats weren't assigned for any of the segments. AA won't allow seat selection online and when I call or tweet AA, they refer me IB. No problem, except that IB's website pulls up a blank "seat assignments not available" when I click the "select seats" option using the IB record locator. I called IB and they said that, because the ticket was issued by AA, they can't do anything as they have limited visibility into the reservation. I'd gladly pay to select the seats if necessary but seem unable to do anything with IB or AA. This normally wouldn't matter except that 1) it would be nice to sit next to my partner on an 8 hour flight across the ocean and 2) he's anticipating shoulder surgery this summer and will have reduced use of one arm. Sitting in the center seats would be hugely advantageous should any help be needed with food, etc. Any suggestions?
