They might be referring to the physical location of the JSX terminals, not the experience in the terminal. For example, at OAK, basically the only way to get to the JSX bit is by car. If you want to take BART, then it's a two mile walk.
Yeah. They're pretty convenient if you're driving or taking an Uber/Lyft, but they're a huge pain if you're renting a car (other than Go Rentals) or trying to take public transportation. (And honestly, the Uber/Lyft pickup situation at most of the airports--especially LAS--is a bit of a nightmare because the roads/parking lots weren't designed for that kind of volume.)
I still prefer them to anyone else for the short-haul routes they fly (being able to arrive 20 minutes before the flight saves a ton of time), but it's not perfect.
