They might be referring to the physical location of the JSX terminals, not the experience in the terminal. For example, at OAK, basically the only way to get to the JSX bit is by car. If you want to take BART, then it's a two mile walk.
Bingo. I wish one of the off-site parking lots would offer a shuttle stop. Only option is $$$$ valet, which can fill.
