Existing passengers stay on the same flight number, new time. I was on UA 883 on Dec 6 and I am told I am still on that flight number, just departing an hour earlier.
If you are on 881 or 883 in December, you might want to check your itins and connections.
Seems wierd that they would do this so close to departure. We'll see if they make the change for future flights, I have ORD-NRT-BKK trips in Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr.
Yep, I had a reservation on 881, for Dec 2, which (after the schedule change) left me only 25 minutes to connect in NRT on my way to SIN.
The phone agent spent 5 minutes trying to find a way to route me from NRT to SIN after 5:30, and was about to have me spend the night in Bangkok when I suggested that perhaps I could leave ORD at a different time. Then she just put me on 883.
In hindsight, I should have prepared a complete alternative itenerary before I called (This is a Mileage run). I'm sure she would have gone for ORD-SFO-HKG-SIN if I had immediately suggested it.
