My local baggage guy said AC rarely loses bags, but rather they're just delayed. I'm not sure how long your connection was in YYZ but last time I checked oversized items at the cutoff time, they didn't make the plane and weren't redirected until overnight. I'd guess it's probably hanging around the bowels of YYZ and will get retagged and forwarded on. Fingers crossed it'll be okay!
