I just spent over an hour on the phone with Delta being passed all the way up to their highest supervisor who herself had me on hold for 30 minutes while trying to figure out what "Sky Team Elite Plus" is. The reason for the call is I am the highest elite status of Flying Blue. This automatically makes me a "Sky Team Elite Plus" member meaning I am suppose to get elite status benefits with Delta such as free baggage, preferred seating, sky priority, ect. ect. But when I booked a Delta ticket while logged into my Delta account (which has my Flying Blue number attached in the account under "other loyalty programs") I did not get any of the benefits I am supposed to as "Sky Team Elite Plus". No one at Delta had any clue how Sky Team Elite Plus worked or how Delta recognizes it. After 90 minutes the highest level supervisor said that she thought she could rebook the reservation using my Flying Blue number which would give me the Sky Team Elite Plus benefits, but she said I would not get any miles or MQDs for the flight with Delta (even though it is a Delta flight booked in my Delta account). I told her what would the point of that be since not getting miles and MQDs would be worse than getting the Sky Team Elite Plus benefits? She said that was the only way she thinks I MIGHT could get the Sky Team Elite Plus benefits. So I told her to keep the reservation booked under my Skymiles so I get the miles and MQDs.

Bottom line, Sky Team Elite and Elite Plus seems to be just a marketing gimmick that none of the airlines really recognizes (and that no Delta employees seem to be familiar with at all).
