Flew to Europe in J on AA, back in J on UA. Have been a UA flyer for years, but I was truly stunned how crappy the main meal was on UA compared to AA. Some sort of pretty bare steak on a plate, with essentially potatoes on the side and parsnips or something mixed with potatoes (getting a theme) as the veggie. All dropped at once - no service by courses. The ice cream (only dessert) was a prepackaged cup of something that came with the meal (and melted). The kicker was the wine I had first wasn't bad; I asked for a second glass and the FA told me they only gave them ONE bottle. Really, what was the point?
I have read on this thread that UA is planning on improvements, but with travel way down I don't have tons of second chances to dish out, and total cheapness and massive lack effort on UA's part here is going to make it hard to fly UA next time. My international business-class flights are now pretty darn limited, and I'd like them to be good experiences.
