Not really... His point is just that you can't really run a successful business doing it part-time or as a side hobby. If you're going to go the route of an IC, it's a full-time, rigorous gig. I know many IC's and it's a 24/7 job until you are able to hire people to take some of the work load off your hands (and even then it's still a 24/7 job).
