It can only be a good thing that the NYT is shining some light on this insanity. The more attention that's paid to this, the better the odds of the testing requirement going away, IMO. Requiring tests for land border crossings is completely impractical, so there's no way for them to institute that to "make everything the same," although I'm sure there are people in the CDC who would like to do that.
