French fluency a requirement for exit row seats?
I’m about to book a flight from Florence to Paris on AF, and the only extra legroom seats available are the exit row. AF doesn’t list any requirements for those seats (other than cost), but I found a many-years old post on TripAdvisor from someone saying they were moved from the exit row seat because they didn’t speak French. (My husband is fluent in French, but I am not.). That requirement would make sense to me, since in the US you must be able to understand the flight attendants in an emergency, and if I were traveling alone I might pass on the exit row for that reason, even if not required, but with my husband along I’m more torn. I would rather book a decent standard seat now than risk getting bumped from the exit row at boarding. Does anyone know if the ability to speak French is an exit row requirement for AF?
