I stand corrected on the expiration date. I just read the March 15 part and didn't look closely enough at the year. That's my error, and I apologize.
Also, I wasn't suggesting you were trying to compare. I just wanted to point out that their ffn program is nothing worth jumping ship about because of the restrictions on nights and such. That's all.
Hilton is a really difficult program. The fact that a 1 night stay in a Hawaiian resort costs 40,000 points is just unbelievable. I used to be very loyal to them, but in comparing other programs, I've gotten very wise in what you can get for your points. I do still enjoy the service at the Hilton hotels, but I can get a lot more bang for my buck at Hyatt. You do the math. 18,000 points or 40,000! Sure, Hyatt points are harder to come by, but with the GP bonuses, it is still easier to get a night's stay with Hyatt than Hilton.
I appreciate your informing the board of the copycat promotion. It is very interesting to see how other programs "match" promotions. However, in keeping the post on topic with the Hyatt board, I thought a comparison was in order. This promo may be good for some people. My dad travels a lot throughout the Southeast, particularly in college towns where there are not a lot of Hyatts. He'll definitely have 7 stays in no time. But if I'm given the choice of properties, I'll take a Hyatt anyday.
