I think that you misunderstood what I was suggesting. Did you ask AA if they will re-accommodate you on a
different airline, to get you back to DFW sooner (albeit with a connection somewhere)? AA has interline agreements with both DL and UA.
Edited to add: It's probably more likely that, if AA were willing to re-route you on another airline, it would be on one of their oneworld partners, like JL.
