Step 6 - Back over the pond

23/05, AA100 JFK-LHR N722AN

I started by going to the Flagship lounge. It went from fairly busy to absolutely heaving a few times in the 3 hours I was in there.

This one is going to be relatively short, and pictureless, because I had some work to do in the lounge, and went straight to sleep once the wheels were up.

Crew came to ask for instructions before take off, and asked whether we wanted to be woekn for breakfast. Since we were on time and I had 4 hours at Heathrow, the answer was no thanks.

Just a note for BA here: there was a hot towel service. Yes, I'm going on a bit, but it's been a common thread along the way.

And a couple of notes and remarks, starting with something interesting which I noticed on the previous flight too, AA didn't care if the blinds were open or shut for take off and landing. In fact on the TCON they were all shut when we got to our seats, and I was the only person with an open blind. Is this a European requirement?

Then there's no such thing as an inside voice for the FAs. I don't know if it was just luck of the draw but all of them were pretty loud for an overnight flight. And then there's the use of "y'all". Thank y'all for y'all's business. Individually, to each passenger in my aisle. It made me cringe, and then grammar died a little. Never mind. Maybe I'm getting tired and I'm getting grumpy!

At about 5:45 London time the captain came on to let us know we were in a holding pattern around Watford because of Heathrow's curfew, so we weren't allowed to land before 6:02. We touched down at a very rainy London at 6:04, and taxied just behind a VS flight which is probably the one which took off just before us at JFK.

We arrived at gate B32, I quickly went down to the walkways and beat the transit by about 30 seconds. There was literally nobody at the e-gates so I was straight through and into the arrivals lounge for a shower and breakfast.
