What a revolting experience - and seemingly no appropriate resolution. Is this commonplace in the Choice world?!

I reluctantly stayed in an Econolodge last month in Tennessee... I was not thrilled with the bait and switch 'no breakfast due to covid' bit and it took a couple of tries to get a room that did not smell of smoke. But I ultimately had a pleasant stay in a reasonably clean room with a clean, comfy bed. It sounds like I found the one acceptable Econolodge that night? Should I be wary of risking it again?
