Chase trip cancellation and interruption insurance only makes some pre-paid expenses refundable in certain situations, it doesn't cover any new expenses that might arise.
Not quite correct -- it will (or should) pay the change fees (but not difference of fare) for the plane tickets.
Change fees are one of the few "new expenses" that Trip Interruption will pay.
