we’ll be in Chennai and Bangalore for a few days, where I think it’ll be fine. But the few days we’ll be in a village in Tamil Nadu May be an issue. I know BSNL works there, and I think Airtel somewhat now. We were thinking about getting local SIMs, but I’m looking into it and seems like a pretty big PITA still.
My sim has worked both on the 12 & 13. Also, I get coverage in the big cities as well as across small towns & villages.
