Wish to share a data point. I had purchased an MH Lite fare for a family member, who now unfortunately is unable to travel.

Spoke to a person at the call centre who was adamant that the entire amount paid for the ticket was non refundable. I challenged that the airport taxes should be refundable because the passenger is not flying.

CSO kept saying "MH terms and conditions say non refundable" but I kept countering that any airline does not have the right to retain airport tax collected on behalf of the regulator, when the passenger does not use the airport facilities. And no self-created terms and conditions will trump the law. Had to reiterate that 3 times to the CSO.

Eventually demanded a supervisor escalation, and got refunded the airport taxes after the CSO consulted internally.

It was painful experience having to argue the law against someone who was clueless and kept digging their heels... but worth the perseverance.
