Had a very strange case happen to me today. My partner and I are flying HAM-CDG-LIM on AF and returning LIM-AMS-HAM on KL. The booking is in one PNR and everything was ticket just fine months ago, including seats selected. As I was traveling today I opened the AF app and noticed what showed as a Hamburg to Lima journey in the app was suddenly just showing as a Lima to Hamburg journey. Concerned and curious I opened the booking and to my shock the first two AF flights had been dropped from the booking.

Within the AF app there was a message saying The flight AFxxxx has been removed from your booking at your request. If you did not request this change please contact us. In the KL app the booking no longer even showed the HAM-CDG-LIM sectors, nor did it have any indication that these were removed. The ticket numbers were still present in the booking too. Of course, at no point did we ask them to remove these flights from the booking, make a change to the booking or try to cancel it. Last week everything was fine, and today the flights were just gone.

I did make a call to the PSL and they got they reissued the ticket with the flights back the way they were before. The agent had no idea what happened.

So I thought I would ask the collective here, has anyone ever encountered this before? We've been flying AF/KL for well over a decade, hundreds of flights a year, and never saw this happen before. I feel like we got lucky since the J cabin had not filled up, and so they reinstated the seats, but I wonder what they would've done if the seats were in the meantime sold out. Either way, a lesson for me to keep an eye on our bookings more closely.
