Just finished a stay at W Rome 2 weeks ago (in 2 parts). For the 1st part of the stay, booked the cheapest room (Fabulous), SNA cleared 3 days before and got upgraded to Spectacular room with terrace.

small room, only about 250 sf

Nice Bathroom

Huge terreace, bigger than the room actually

As other posters pointed out, W Rome felt more like a boutique hotel than your usual W. The room (indoor space) is actually quite small, I couldn't really open 2 suitcases at the same time in there. Regular room will basically be about the same size minus the terrace. The terrace is really nice ONLY because the weather was sunny during my stay, it would be totally useless in rainy weather. However I have to say the service is pretty good. All the staff are quite responsive and helpful, and the breakfast is probably one of the better one I had for a while. Location wise the hotel is ok. Its about 15 minutes walk to Spanish steps and 30 to Trevi, but do remember you would be walking uphill to get back to the hotel.

For the second part of the stay (after 10 days of hiking in Umbria). Again booked the cheapest room and 5 days before got notification that my SNA is cleared and I got upgraded to the MYTHICAL Mega Suite! Just thought I got the jackpot then the funny thing happened, the reservation just disappeared from the app the next day. and when I checked in on the day my upgrade became "Corner Suite" insisted the receptionist (there is no such thing as Corner Suite, just Corner room, a room slightly bigger at about 300sf with no outdoor space). Anyway, to cut a long story short I didn't raise much a fuss as I was going to only stay for 2 nights and I did appreciate the bigger floor space, at least I could open both my suitcases at the same time lol. Sorry no picture as the room is more or less the same but just a bit bigger.

Frankly I have to say the value is not really there given the price point (this is probably the 2nd most expensive Marriott property in Rome after St. Regis) relative to the size of the rooms. The service is good but so does St. Regis. For 800+ a night (regular rate in July) I would really expect something with decent size even in Rome standard.
