Just to be clear - so everyone understands, the way things are written - if you preorder a meal in Y and are upgraded, it depends on when you're upgraded. You're prereserved meal may not be boarded. If it is, you are welcome to purchase it if you prefer it over the F meal boarded for you. If you don't like the F meals you are welcome to purchase something from the menu in Y but it isn't supposed to be provided for free. All that said, we all know that actual practice varies from person to person, flight to flight. What actually happens can be different than what's supposed to happen - as evidenced by the many posts here. If someone does what they're supposed to do rather than what you want them to do, understand that they're actually the ones that are doing what's asked. I'm not posting this to start a discussion about what anyone thinks should be the procedure - just to clarify what the process is actually supposed to be.
